Rejected (im.)
2026
Motivation: The desk rejection took a little longer than expected. The editor mentioned that while they "greatly appreciate the quality and effort of your work, we feel that it does not engage closely enough with the generalist political science audience of EJPR." This seemed like a standard statement, offering little further comment.

Motivation: Very quick process. Also generally good comments that subtantiate a rejection but help improve the paper further.

Motivation: I have never gone through 4 revisions for an article, but am grateful that the editors did not give up on us despite a difficult reviewer who insisted on a misunderstanding.

Rejected (im.)
2016
Motivation: Very ridiculous reason to reject the paper. The reason was that my paper was based on a single country. Basically EJPR just want cross-national studies which are more likely to be cited in the future. EJPR used to be about interesting research, now it's just citation-hunting and the journal is going downhill...
