Motivation:
The Chief Editor sent a mail saying that the paper I submitted would not be a good fit for the Journal due to the methodology I employed for my study and that it might not be favorably reviewed. They took the time to explain their rationale in a lengthy email, and I appreciated that. They were prompt with their decision (2 days) which helped me submit my manuscript elsewhere without further delays.

Motivation:
The initial review took unexpectedly and unreasonably long - it was almost 12 weeks. I understand the journal might have experienced difficulty finding reviewers but it is their job to sort things out. We could have moved on by quickly finding another outlet for our paper had the desk rejection been made in a more timely manner.

Motivation:
After responding to extensive reviews from one set of reviewers and waiting 4 months for a response, I learned that a second set of reviewers reviewed the manuscript and brought up a slew of issues that had already been discussed in the previous reviews. I withdrew the manuscript, unwilling to jump through the same hoops once again.
