SciRev.org is a website created by researchers for researchers. The idea for this website was born from our own experience with the scientific review process. This experience is similar to that of many colleagues: endlessly waiting for an uncertain outcome.

Through SciRev.org, we aim to help speeding up this process by offering researchers the opportunity to share their experiences with it. In this way, the process becomes more transparent, which is good for researchers, journal editors and for science as a whole.

Researchers can compare the journals in their field regarding the speed of the different phases of the review process and the number and quality of the referee reports. This offers them the possibility to select efficient journals for publishing their work.

Editors get the opportunity to compare their journal's performance with that of others and get credits for their efforts to improve the review process and the way they handle manuscripts. Less efficient journals are stimulated to put energy in organizing things better.

A more efficient review process is also crucial for science. Too often, valuable new knowledge lays untouched on reviewers' desks and in editorial offices for extended periods -- an unacceptable loss of time in a world needing solutions to major problems.

The SciRev.org website is owned and managed by Stichting SciRev, a non-profit organization (charity) located in The Netherlands.
