Aims and Scope

Journal of Experimental Biology (JEB) is the leading journal in comparative animal physiology. We publish papers on the form and function of living organisms at all levels of biological organisation, from the molecular and subcellular to the integrated whole animal. Our authors and readers reflect a broad interdisciplinary group of scientists who study molecular, cellular and organismal physiology in an evolutionary and environmental context.

The single most important criterion for publication in JEB is significant advancement of scientific knowledge. We favour novel, mechanistic, hypothesis-driven papers of general importance to the field of comparative physiology and of interest to our broad readership. We do NOT publish research with a biomedical or general plant physiology focus.

Latest review

First review round: 4.0 weeks. Overall rating: 5 (excellent). Outcome: Accepted.

Motivation:
The most useful, efficient, and even pleasurable, review and publication process I have been involved in so far. Really impressed by this journal and look forward to submitting to JEB in the future. I especially want to highlight that the post acceptance publishing/ proofing editors were very friendly, quick and meticulous. I am very impressed by the whole experience.
